The Flood Sisters Saving One Patient At A Time

Standard

July 7, 2014 – New York, NY – In 2008 the sisters started an organization, “The Flood Sisters Kidney Foundation of America.” The idea all began when their father was diagnosed with kidney disease. The sisters were relentless and would not limit the possibilities to help their father. By posting an ad on craigslist for a donor they were able to find the perfect match.

After several years of dedication to helping those in need, The Flood Sisters Kidney Foundation Of America has successfully coordinated six transplants including their father.

Current patients in need of a donor are 15 year old Michael Delloros who enjoys fishing with his father on the weekends, 38 year old devoted husband Robert Graham, and 58 year old Pat Fatica.

Their Mission is to educate the public on kidney disease and inspire others to donate the greatest gift one could give, life. Be someone’s hero and become an organ donor. For more information about the donation process visit http://floodsisters.org/. Click the living donors” tab, then donation process.

“Our goal is simple and true, Love, Give, Life.” – The Flood Sisters

About Young Professional Leadership

The prom-themed event was established by a group of young professionals who brainstormed ways to fundraise for the CFF. One member of the committee, diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis (CF), mentioned that she never had the opportunity to attend her high school prom, due to illness. Since then, the YPLC has been throwing its annual prom the focus of raising money to find a cure.

About Cystic Fibrosis (CF)

CF is a life-threatening, inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the US (70,000 worldwide). An additional 10 million more—or about one in every 31 Americans—are carriers of the defective CF gene, but do not have the disease. The predicted median age of survival for a person with CF is the late 30s. The steady rise of the median predicted age of survival suggests that improvements in treatment and care are advancing the lives of those with CF.
All young professionals in New York City, and the surrounding region, are encouraged to attend the CFF’s “A Prom to Remember.” These individuals, and all of The CFF’s supporters, are the driving force in pursuit of a cure for CF.
